Osmosis hires five-strong L&G team to expand systematic fund capabilities

Sustainable investment manager Osmosis has made five senior hires from Legal & General, including the former head of index solutions and head of LGIM index for EMEA.

Dr Fadi Zaher is joining Osmosis as CIO on 2 April 2026 after leaving his post as L&G’s former head of index solutions where he was responsible for the design, creation, and maintenance of strategies totalling around £100bn in assets.

Colm O’Brien (pictured) joined Osmosis in September as head of strategy and client solutions, and was previously head of LGIM index for EMEA. He spent 12 years at L&G in various roles and was also previously head of indexation at Irish Life Asset Managers.

Meanwhile, their L&G colleagues Silvio Corgiat Mecio, Jason Lee and Fanggang (Royce) Yan are joining on 19 November as Osmosis’s head of systematic solutions, quantitative developer & researcher and senior quantitative analyst respectively.

Osmosis already has an established quantitative team and a suite of systematic investment funds, so these appointments will be building on those capabilities. The team is now structured into two functions: research and systematic solutions, in anticipation of the next phase of product development.

Ben Dear, CEO of Osmosis Investment Management, commented: “While the current climate for sustainable investing remains politically and commercially challenging, we believe this moment presents a unique opportunity to build out our capabilities and ensure investors can navigate the complex challenges that lie ahead. These appointments are key to that commitment. The new team’s deep expertise in systematic and factor-based sustainable investment perfectly complements our strategy and supports our mission to deliver innovative, climate-aligned solutions for our clients.”
