EQ Investors’ Spiers awarded MBE
John Spiers, chair of EQ Investors, has been recognised with an MBE in the 2026 New Year Honours for his “outstanding contributions to business and the charitable sector”.
Spiers, who was formerly CEO of EQ Investors and set up the firm in 2014, was also awarded the honour for his position as CEO of the firm’s charity the EQ Foundation. He set up Bestinvest in 1986, which was later to sold to 3i.
He is also currently chair of Giving is Great, which aims to help people understand charities better and find the most impactful causes.
Commenting on the MBE, Spiers said: “I am humbled and grateful that my work has been recognised. None of my achievements would have been possible without the efforts of countless others and I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.”
