Alquity Transforming Lives Foundation appoints three trustees
The Alquity Transforming Lives Foundation has appointed three new trustees – Julia Dreblow, Natasha Kwakwa and Bruce McCombie – to help strengthen the foundation’s strategic direction and governance as it expands its impact across emerging markets.
The foundation channels a portion of Alquity’s revenue to non-profits and social enterprises operating in the regions where Alquity’s funds invest through grants and other forms of finance.
Alquity commits 10% of its revenues to the foundation every year. Since its launch in 2015, the foundation said it has donated more than $2.9m (£2.1m).
David Crook, Alquity Transforming Lives Foundation lead, said: “Julia, Natasha and Bruce join at an exciting moment for the Alquity Transforming Lives Foundation as we focus increasingly on collaboration and funding innovation to drive economic opportunity for some of the most marginalised communities in the emerging markets where Alquity invests.”
Dreblow added: “I have devoted my career to encouraging, and helping, investors to support positive companies while seeking financial returns, but there are parts of the value chain retail sustainable investment cannot reach. As such I am delighted to support Alquity’s innovative work – transforming lives through [very] early-stage interventions, in areas where the potential benefits of developing young entrepreneurs is clear.”
