GRI Appoints Robin Hodess as New CEO
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) announced today the appointment of Robin Hodess as the organization’s new CEO, beginning in February 2025. Hodess has held a variety of international leadership roles spanning strategy, governance, advocacy, policy and research, and she joins GRI from her current position as Chief of Strategy and Impact for The B Team, a nonprofit that advocates for business practices centered on humanity and climate issues.
Her appointment follows an extensive global search, GRI said. Hodess’ appointment follows the announcement earlier this year by current CEO Eelco van der Enden of his plans to step down from his role at the end of 2024. Cristina Gil White, who has been interim CEO since September 2024, will continue to lead the organization until Hodess takes up her post.
Hodess said:
“I am thrilled and honored to be joining GRI at such an important moment, when people and organizations everywhere are focused on how to achieve a sustainable future. GRI’s sustainability standards are unique in enabling meaningful reporting on the impact of these efforts. I look forward to working across the GRI community, and together with partners, to ensure that sustainability reporting drives a thriving, inclusive economy for all.”
GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards are among the most commonly accepted global standards for sustainability reporting by companies, developed to enable consistent reporting across companies and industries, providing clearer communication to stakeholders regarding sustainability matters. The GRI published a major update of the standards in 2021, and recently published new proposed climate change and energy reporting standards as well as a new biodiversity reporting standard. The GRI’s standards are developed by the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB).
White said:
“I celebrate the appointment of Robin as our new CEO. She brings a unique blend of skills and experience across sectors. The team and I look forward to working alongside Robin to ensure that GRI is a springboard for change, enabling organizations to unlock the value of reporting and deliver measurable results.”
